Thank you for your interest in the SIRH Physical Therapy Student
Program. This Program consists of two-six week rotations for clerkship and six-eight week rotations for internships. Generally,
six to eight PT students and three to four PTA students are accepted per year.

Hours: Will vary depending on the designated Clinical Instructor's (CI) business hours:
Outpatient clinicians:
7:00-3:30 Mon-Fri
8:00-4:30 Mon-Fri
8:00-6:30 Mon-Thu |
Inpatient clinicians:
8:00-4:30 Mon-Fri
8:00-6:30 4 days / week (Days vary).
9:30-6:00 the first Monday and third Tuesday of each month
designated hours for for family education, for inpatient rotations.
A Saturday experience can be arranged with the CI upon arrival, but is not required.
Patient Population
The patient population at SIRH varies, yet generally consists of
orthopedic injuries (hip replacements, knee replacements,
amputations), spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and neurological
disorders (Parkinson's, CVA, MS). It is expected that each student be
familiar with general precautions / contraindications of the above
conditions.
Suggested preparation:
Students are responsible for the understanding and ability to perform skills during the clinical experience, which have already been covered within the curriculum at each
University / College. Students should be familiar with the Clinical Performance Instrument
and be prepared to seek opportunities to demonstrate his / her performance on the various skills.
