Golf Performance and Fitness Program

Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital (SIRH) is committed to supporting the promotion of lifelong fitness and recreation. In order to accomplish this, services and education are provided to allow for safe performance of these activities and to assist in injury prevention. Golf is a sport that continues to grow in popularity, and with that comes the possibility of injury. The National Golf Foundation reports that there are 26.1 million golfers in the United states. More than 60% of amateur golfers will experience a golf related injury, and injuries can occur regardless of age or skill level.

Injuries
Common Injuries associated with golf may be found in the low back, shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, and knee. Golf injuries can occur due to an overuse, strength and flexibility imbalance, improper warm up, or poor swing mechanics. In addition, golf is a sport that places a unique combination of forces on the body that makes golfers more susceptible to injury.

A Comprehensive Approach
The Golf Performance & Fitness Program at SIRH is a comprehensive approach to assist our clients in maximizing their abilities and to minimize the risk of injury. This approach includes a video swing analysis using Dartfish video technology, a musculoskeletal strength and flexibility examination, and rehabilitation/fitness exercise specific to the individual's needs.

Who Would Benefit?
Individuals of all ages would benefit from the Golf Performance & Fitness Program at SIRH. Whether a person is a novice golfer or has years of experience golfing, achieving a balance between strength, flexibility and swing technique is beneficial.

Our program can be beneficial for all golfers, but it is especially recommended to anyone who has pain or tenderness during or after a round of golf. In addition, anyone who has had a surgery and who wants to get back to playing would benefit from the expert advice offered through this program.
